Overview

As of 2010, there were 341,020,000 people of all ages living in the Middle East and North Africa, and more than nine-in-ten were Muslims (93%). The next largest religious group is Christians, who comprise roughly 4% of the region’s total population. Jews make up between 1% and 2% of the people in the Middle East-North Africa region. Hindus, Buddhists, followers of folk or traditional religions, adherents of other religions, and people who do not identify with a religion each make up less than 1% of the region’s population.
